Letter: Bad signs

My son, who is a traffic engineer for the entire metro system in the city of Dallas, paid me a visit last week, and he was amazed at the number of traffic signs that are reflectively dead. He counted nine dead traffic signs from Apple Hill Orchard to my home in Canterbury. The reflectivity lasts three years, after which they are useless and should be replaced.

Not too many years ago, signs lasted for decades. We don't need high tech signs that require replacement every 3 years.
