Letter: Home-state connection

Although we missed the Monitor articles on Josh Reynolds’s journey across the country on his bike, we got to know him when he showed up in Panamint Springs on the western edge of Death Valley.

As we were sitting on the porch eating dinner, we noticed a young man with a T-shirt from UNH. We inquired and found out he was from Bow. Most of the people we met there were foreign: German, Italian, French, Chinese. It was a lot of fun talking to Reynolds about his journey. Unfortunately, that afternoon and the next day we had terrific winds which whipped up the salt flats and dust which made his trip really hard to Ridgecrest the next day. All the other days there was no wind. The park is incredibly beautiful and vast. It was a real treat to meet Josh there and make a connection we will continue at home.
