Letter: Give up Medicare?
In his letter (“Some of us think for ourselves,” Sunday Monitor, Jan. 12), George Keiper claims that if he had been of voting age, he would have “fought against” Social Security just as he did when he “fought against” the implementation of Medicare and Medicaid during the Lyndon Johnson administration.
So, Mr. Keiper, we have a question for you. It seems you are a senior citizen who is eligible for Medicare and Social Security. Are you willing to give up both of these programs, which you insinuate are little more than scams?
Or are you simply another senior citizen who believes in the motto of “survival of the fittest” which really says “I have mine and the heck with everyone else”?
