Letter: Feltes is stronger candidate
I am pleased to support Dan Feltes in his race for the New Hampshire Senate.
Early in the campaign, Dan sought me out to ask for my vote. We met for an hour to discuss the issues. I intentionally asked some provocative questions knowing that the Senate can be a divisive and challenging environment.
How would he hold up under scrutiny? How did he handle criticism? What motivated him to take on this challenging position? He passed the test with distinction. He was thoughtful, open-minded and willing to disagree even if it meant not getting my vote.
We also need young, well-educated people holding public office. To me, Dan stands as a role model for many of the young professionals who we are trying so hard to keep in our beautiful state. His eight years of experience with the Legislature, being instrumental in getting important legislation passed by working across the aisle impresses me the most.
Dan’s longtime commitment to family-friendly legislation and support of early educational initiatives is well established. This is not meant to diminish the dedication to education by his opponent, but sitting on a school board that rarely gets challenged is a different skill set than working in a divisive legislature. I believe Dan has demonstrated this ability for the last eight years.
We are lucky to have a race this time around, although I wish it could have started earlier. We have two strong candidates. I will vote for Dan Feltes on Sept. 9.
