Letter: Another foreign adventure?

I am appalled that Mitt Romney is now calling for the U.S to intervene in Syria. Apparently it is not enough that we are already involved in two long-term, un-winnable Middle Eastern wars that have cost us tons of money and benefited us very little. In fact, since World War II there has been a long series of such undeclared wars – presidentially declared “police actions.” And in most cases they were instigated and promoted by presidents who themselves or their family members had never served in our military during an active war and had no firsthand idea what war was really like.

If we are going to get involved overseas and pour huge amounts of our (and our children’s) tax dollars into the cause, it should not be a decision by one man. A declaration of war or some form of formal vote by our elected representatives in Congress should be required. I do not know if there is an accurate, believable accounting of the dollar cost to the United States of the interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I certainly wonder how the real figure compares with the increase in our national debt during the same interval.

Two unfunded wars Jim... if Twit Robme gets elected that would be three, four, perhaps more. My question is; does he want to be president or King?
