Letter: We must become fact-checkers

Much money has been expended over the current campaign, amounts so great that they could diminish portions of the national debt! With Super-PACs, creatively named organizations for many causes, party money and war chests raised by the candidates, it seems that money is trying to control the election results.

The money behind some of the funds comes from those who are taxed the least, those with the extra cash to try to buy our votes. Other money comes from businesses who want to pocket a candidate, who deem the expense worth having an obligated servant at hand.

Since there is little we can do about it at this time, we must then become fact-checkers. We must find information in its original form, unedited and without commentary. We should then study it for its core meaning. We need to find groups that are as unbiased as possible for assistance on issues pertaining to global matters of economy, environment, foreign and military policy. Lack of time is a common excuse, but if you have time to watch reality shows, soaps, etc., that excuse is invalid.

Recently, a TV group went out on the streets soliciting reactions on the first-lady debate. Although there was no such debate, they found many willing opinionated people. The right to vote is a privilege, duty and responsibility! However, if you are still undecided, if you have not done fact-checking, please do not vote.
