Letter: Big deal!

Will someone explain to me what all the fuss is about because Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan pays no property tax? For heaven’s sake, her husband is the principal of Phillips Exeter Academy and lives on campus. Of course the school pays the property tax on its own buildings on campus. So what is Hassan supposed to do, live in a cabin off campus?

Look around. I’ll bet every private school in the state provides housing for its headmasters. St. Paul’s certainly does for its rector. If New Hampshire didn’t have such an antiquated tax system, this would not be an issue. Maybe we should have a special fee for anyone running for office. Maybe a tax on all money spent for political ads. That would bring in a fortune for the state!

Maggie al-Hassan lives for free and pays no property taxes. Is she as "out of touch" as Mitt Romney. By progressive standards I would have to say that she is.

As a NH voter who disagrees with most of Hassan positions, I DO agree that this is a made up issue, and the group who presented this should be ashamed. We all know THAT won't happen. SO many made up issues, so little time!

please let me understand this, maggie hassen pays no taxes and lives there for free.why is it that the rest of us have to use our hard earned money to pay our taxes.I dont live on my property for free.GOD bless america.
