Letter: Troubling juxtaposition
I found the juxtaposition of the front-page articles in the Sunday Monitor ironic, sad and disarming. The article about the sexual predator law and the difficulty of applying it was almost two columns and then an entire second page: all the reasons why it is so difficult to apply and a number of county attorneys who are not comfortable with it. Underneath, in two small columns, was the reporting of the woman in Weare allegedly raped by two men who broke into her home.
All this discomfort with a law that would keep rapists in prison beyond their original sentence who are seen as likely to rape again? How about an article that uses a full page to describe what the rest of this woman’s life will be like dealing with the trauma of rape? How about that “discomfort”?
