Letter: Bring Bradford town hall back to life
Bradford’s historic 1797 town hall stands in the center of town looking dignified, but not happy. It has nothing else to do for the most part, its usability limited by modern safety, fire and building codes.
At 88 years of age, I remember town hall as a vibrant and happy place for the community where we went to vote, dance and enjoy movies, graduations and mid-winter bake sales.
Times have changed, but town hall once again could bring life to the center of town. What’s needed is a safe, secure building for town business and access to a fire-sprinkled second-floor 220-seat auditorium.
On April 11 at 7 p.m. at Kearsarge Regional Elementary School, we voters have a chance to reconsider the majority “Yes” votes cast at town meeting to reach the two-thirds vote needed to pass the bond. I, for one, would like to see town hall have a life again.
