Letter: Nothing but bad news
Where is this country going? It’s getting to a point where you don’t want to turn on your television and watch the news or read your local newspaper because you don’t know what is going to be in there next.
In the past six months, there have been cases of bullying, claims against a local priest, a dentist accused of giving out medication for the wrong reasons, a bill to allow teachers to carry a gun in school and, most recently, the New London police chief accused of offering to take nude pictures of a woman in exchange for dropping the charges against her. And most important, because he resigned and had his certificate taken away, he will not be punished for what he has done.
It should not matter who the person in question is. If you commit a crime, you go through the process no matter if you are the chief of police or a clerk at a local retail store.
And then we have our government leaders in Washington doing everything possible to go against whatever the other party wants.
When is this country going to come together and do what is right for this country? It’s time to stop the fighting. Maybe giving the correct punishment for the crime will stop the bullying, the need for teachers to carry a gun in the classroom and so on.
Let’s start doing the right thing, so that we can be proud of the country that we live in.
