Letter: Shameful treatment of our veterans

Remembering the day, I got to work on Sept. 11, 2004, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in the Dementia Unit. Some of the veterans came up to me and said, “Don’t worry, we will take care of all of you. We will protect you from this attack of September 11.” Most of these veterans were of World War II and the Korean War. Not able to remember five minutes before or after, but remembering they had been soldiers, even thinking they still were! A soldier is a soldier no matter what!

I choke up every time I think of this and their loyalty to their country. This issue of making them pay for incontinent supplies means leaving them with no spending money. This is not good. The shame of treating our beloved veterans like this.
