Letter: Extremely local mush
After I read Publisher Mark Travis’ notice in the Sunday Monitor about the major changes coming to the content and format of the paper, I immediately started looking at your competition. After seeing the first wave of the changes on Wednesday, I am convinced you have not only lost the renewal of my 15-year subscription, but your mind as well. New management always means changes, I accept that, but this is off the charts. The Concord Monitor has ceased to be a newspaper to become nothing more than a glorified newsletter full of idle chit-chat, composed of limited interest, blatantly bland, extremely local mush.
In a state so keen on politics, at a time so critical to our future, in a world facing so many life-altering options, you have completely opted-out and turned tightly inward. Tell me, if we go to war with Syria, will that, too, be relegated to the bottom of the back page of Section B, below the local weather?
