Letter: Unfair to Blanchard
The Monitor’s Wednesday editorial (“Please, no council meddling in schools”) lambasting Councilor Liz Blanchard for having the temerity to suggest the city council get involved in the Concord School Board really bothered me.
As a member of the city council she has every right to make this suggestion, whether she is running again or not. I am more upset by the Monitor’s editorial writer disparaging her by saying, in effect, she has no right to say what she did. I watched the council meeting and did not get the impression it was done with malice. She has devoted many years representing Penacook and Concord as a state representative, city councilor and county commissioner. There should be a retraction or apology. Maybe the Monitor can say what is the greatest thing in America after the Concord School District.
