Letter: With information, consumers will make rational choices

Re “Labeling effort is confusing, misleading” (Monitor Forum, Sept. 19):

Thank you, Rob Johnson, for reminding me why many of us will not join the New Hampshire Farm Bureau. Pushing the national agenda of industrial agriculture is not in the best interests of many New Hampshire farms.

The majority of my customers are concerned, informed consumers of local foods. I am convinced that they are smart enough to make rational decisions at the farmers market, food coop, or grocery store – as long as they have access to complete information.

It’s time to label GMO foods and do away with the big-brother Farm Bureau approach of concealing basic information.
