Letter: Shaheen is working hard for us
In a recent letter, a Massachusetts voter voiced her concern that Sen. Jeanne Shaheen should co-sponsor bipartisan climate change legislation and that she should emulate her opponent, Jim Rubens (“A goad to Ayotte, Shaheen,” Monitor, Oct. 4).
First of all, is Rubens so out of touch with New Hampshire that his campaign is relying on calling in favors from Massachusetts for support? According to Rubens there should be, his own words here, “sycophants and well-wishers beaming and waiting in line” to shake his hand. Moreover, his out-of-state supporter actually lays out exactly the type of legislation Shaheen has been working on for a number of years.
The Shaheen-Portman Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act is a bipartisan national strategy to increase the use of energy efficiency technologies in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors of our economy that also fosters job creation.
Shaheen is working for all people of New Hampshire and the United States, and any criticism of her is always grasping at straws. Rubens should just bow out now and think about taking another, again his own words, “atypical vacation of private charter flights, organic meals on white linen and a private bungalow.”
