Letter: Break cycle of welfare abuse
Many times in my life I have been down and out. By the grace of God, I somehow managed to get by without help from welfare programs. Maybe that is why I get aggravated when people start crying about not getting enough of the free stuff. That’s one reason.
My biggest reason is those who abuse these programs so badly. I have heard about some who take their friends shopping because they have so much left over before the next payload comes in. They buy $100 of food and get $50 in cash when they give them the goods.
Many of these same people aren’t healthy enough to work, but they can have a bunch of kids. They have their boyfriends or girlfriends basically live off them for free too.
Chances are, if you raise your kids on welfare, they will do the same with theirs. Time to break the cycle. I have heard of these people being reported, but it still goes on. Does it not matter, as long as the welfare workers get paid too? Most of the abusers are born and raised Americans! Can’t blame the refugees for that.
Most of these people have never worked, or very little, throughout their lives. I know we all can hit hard times. I just wonder if it weren’t so easy for these abusers, maybe more would make a real honest effort to hold their own.
And possibly, America might manage to climb out of this giant black hole we have allowed to develop.
