Letter: Independence, common sense

Growing up, I was always particularly proud to be from New Hampshire. Granite Staters are known for their independence, common sense and, when needed, their fighting spirit. New Hampshire’s longstanding tradition of civic engagement and public service sets our state apart. And though military service will soon take my family out of state, I’m proud to see these values epitomized in our senator and a fellow military spouse, Kelly Ayotte.

We need to work together. In the dysfunction of today’s Washington, a level head and spirit of bipartisanship is too often lacking in our elected leaders. The people of New Hampshire sent our representatives to Washington to work on our behalf. We need leaders who are willing to speak their mind and make the tough decisions. Ayotte has never failed to speak up for us or do what she thinks is right for New Hampshire families. Let’s hope Congress takes note of Ayotte’s willingness to make tough decisions and lead in an environment where far too many meekly follow. New Hampshire certainly has.
