Letter: Euphemism from Ayotte
U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte opines that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect of the Boston Marathon bombing, should be “held as an enemy combatant and questioned at length for purposes of protecting our country” (“After terrorist attack, intelligence gathering is top priority,” Sunday Monitor Viewpoints, April 28).
Why don’t you dismiss the euphemisms, Ms. Ayotte, and say what you really mean: so he can be tortured to gain (dubiously) worthwhile information. Did we learn nothing from the Bush-Cheney blood lust? Oh, wait: you’re one of them, aren’t you?
