Little confused aren't you?
Marland and the Concord Monitor supports the party of the KKK, the party of Jim Crow, and the party of Bull Connor 24/7/365. To Marland and the Concord Monitor is not about the content of their character it is the color of their skin that counts.
Van, you're at least 50 years behind the times with your "facts". Which is not a good thing for someone who routinely complains about 'low information voters'. Those who supported the KKK, Jim Crow laws, and Bull Connor-like treatment of civil rights marchers, long ago migrated to the Republican Party. Former Dixiecrat Strom Thurmond's behavior exemplifies the transition, as he switched parties and became a Republican for the last 20 years of his sorry career in politics. Following the passage of landmark civil rights legislation in 1964-1965, all proposed by LBJ, the South, as LBJ predicted, was lost to the Democrats for a generation (it's now going on two). Which party is working hard to gut the heart out of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965?--the Republicans. Which successful presidential candidate chose to start off his campaign with a dog-whistle appeal to segregationists/ states-righters at a fair in Mississippi some 30+ years ago? For better or worse, if not for white voters in the South, the Republican party would likely claim permanent minority status.
