Summit seeks common ground on climate pact

Countries debate future beyond 2020

Representatives of more than 190 countries gathered in Warsaw, Poland, yesterday to continue debating how to deal with climate change beyond 2020, even as nations are falling further behind on their collective goal of reining in greenhouse gas emissions that are warming the planet.

Major breakthroughs are not expected at the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change. Instead, these talks have been described as sessions that will lay a foundation for a global agreement to be reached in time for 2015 talks in Paris.

“Warsaw, even more than usual, is a stop along the way toward accomplishments in the longer term,” said Nathaniel Keohane, vice president of the Environmental Defense Fund’s international climate program. “I don’t think anyone is expecting a major landmark in Warsaw.”

That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to discuss – or argue about. Developing nations want to know how the developed world plans to make good on a pledge to “mobilize” $100 billion by 2020 to help them cope with the effects of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Other countries, including small island nations that may have to move large groups of people as rising seas consume land masses, want financial compensation.

And everyone wants to know how the nations of the world will draw a road map toward a 2015 treaty that will further rein in greenhouse gas emissions beyond 2020.

Here is what the leaders of the climate alarmists have to say: even the New York Times has at last been constrained to admit what Dr. Pachauri of the IPCC was constrained to admit some months ago. There has been no global warming statistically distinguishable from zero for getting on for two decades. Forget global warming!? Earth undergoing global COOLING since 2002! Climate Scientist Dr. Judith Curry: ‘Attention in the public debate seems to be moving away from the 15-17 year ‘pause’ to the cooling since 2002’ Even CRU’s Phil Jones admitted in a BBC interview that there had been no “statistically significant” warming since 1995 “IPCC Head Pachauri acknowledges ‘No warming for 17 years’ “Climate modeler Dr. Gavin Schmidt of NASA GISS comments on the failure of models to match real world observations.” “UN IPCC Lead Author Hans Von Storch Blasts Climate Scientists: Not The 'Keepers Of The Truth' -- Says They 'Oversold' The Science -- Accuses colleagues of hype & 'methodical failure'” “The planet is no longer warming. The brief warming episode of the late 20th century completed its course in the mid 1990s, and is now extinct. These are now uncontroversial statements.”

Sail, the issue is that facts can be used to prove anything....people who are hysterical and absolutist about global warming are concerned about more than the planet. They are interested in human behavior and how they can control that behavior to build economic equity between people. It is all about regulating behavior and consumption by those who want to control others. People who are absolute are, well....absolute. You could show them proof positive and they would find a way to make it seem as if it was not correct. The real issue for global warming fanatics is that their rhetoric offends more and more people and they are becoming a caricature of themselves.

The "alternate world" the poster below references is known as the real world. His claim is simply false, but that never stops him from continuing to make the same false claims over and over. Which begs the question: "why?" This 1 minute NASA video presents the facts on global warming, and invites the curious to seek out more of the facts:

I simply cant imagine in what alternate world do the people live that don't know that the earth has ...not....Not...NOT...warmed in over 17 years
