Madeleine Cheney was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She is a nursing major.

Luke Roever was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He is a business administration major.

Deerfield

Jacob Carozza was inducted into the Gold Key Honor Society at Emerson College in Boston.

Henniker

Val Dyer is a nominee for the 2018 Teacher of the Year of the New Hampshire Department of Education. A selection committee will review the 18 nominees and make their choice in the fall. She has taught at Henniker Community School for 31 years.

Hopkinton

Calvin Johnstone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnstone, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He is an environmental studies major.

Charlotte Cox was the second-place winner in the adult category of the annual poetry contest of the Literary Arts Guild of the Center for the Arts, Lake Sunapee Region.

Sammi Goldblatt, a Maple Street School sixth- grader, and Frank Tansey, founder and president of Vertical Challenge, presented a check for $3,400 to the Town of Hopkinton’s Kimball Lake Cabins Committee to be used for the restoration of the town’s historic Kimball Lake Cabins. Three years ago, after learning that the cabins had been closed and might be torn down, Sammi helped to organize the Kimball Cabin Crusaders, a group of fourth- to sixth-graders under the supervision of teacher Barb Jenkins, that raised $5,000 through fundraising events.
