Political experience: Governor of Texas from 2000 to present; former Texas luitenant governor 1999-2000; former Texas agricultural commissioner 1990-1999; former Texas House representative 1985-1991.
Brief bio: Perry is a third generation Texan. He is an Eagle Scout, and he graduated from Texas A&M in 1972 with a degree in animal sciences. He married his childhood sweetheart, Anita Thigpen, in 1982. He's known her since elementary school. They couple has two children, Griffin and Sydney. Perry took control of the governor's office when former president George W. Bush resigned to prepare for his inauguration. He has won three re-election campaigns since. He is the first Texas governor to be elected to three four-year terms. He wrote a book in 2010 titled, Fed Up!
