The Lakes Region Art Association will host a 12-hour “Introduction to Digital Photography” course in March, preceded by a free introductory session Tuesday at the group’s art gallery, located in the Tanger Outlet Mall, Suite 132, in Tilton.

The free session, titled, “The Science, Art and Joy of Digital Photography,” will start at 7 p.m. The public is invited, and no registration is required.

Local photographer and LRAA gallery member Jay Fitzpatrick will conduct all four sessions. The full course will be conducted on three consecutive Saturdays starting March 17 at 8 a.m. The cost of the course is $95 per person ($75 for LRAA members).

The free presentation will provide an overview of digital camera equipment, camera settings, composition techniques, subject matter, file processing, photo printing and framing. The full course will cover these basics in more detail and will include a discussion of the “exposure triangle” and how various camera settings can effect the final images, lighting, lenses, use of software such as Photoshop and how to expand one’s creative abilities.

Registration is required for the three-session course and class size is limited to 12. For more information, call 455-6595 or email at jall@tds.net.
