Old Engine 7 is in need of a home. Built in 1928 by Abbot-Downing, it is a testament to changes in firefighting technology. Firefighters back then used wooden ladders and axes and responded to a mechanical siren with a nickel-plated bell.
In 1928, the Concord Fire Department answered fewer than 500 calls and spent less than $72,500. It had a full-time force of approximately five firefighters, plus volunteers.
