George Romney in New Hampshire

In 1968, while Presidential candidate Mitt Romney was a missionary living in France, his father, George Romney, hit the campaign trail himself. The elder Romney visited New Hampshire several times while campaigning to win the first in the nation primary.

Last week, the AP made available several images from George Romney's 1968 run for the Presidency, including several of Romney campaigning in Concord, Franklin and other towns around the state. These are some of our favorites.

In 2007 Monitor reporter Lauren Dorgan wrote about dad's campaign.

A look at one

We've been photographing a lot of standalone photos lately, so when I heard there was yet another standalone assignment, I said enough is enough and decided to find a deeper story. It was my third time photographing the Rock N' Race, which seems to grow each year, but each year I've photographed it, my images always felt disconnected. Inevitably they ended up being an impersonal look at the chaos surrounding the masses rather than the purpose of the run.

So, the day before the race I headed over to the Grappone Center, where teams went to register, and spoke with two fantastic organizers who knew just the person to contact. In fact, they dialed Roger Jobin up right in front of me and passed me the phone. Perfect.

Banding Peregrine Falcons

Chris Martin, New Hampshire Audubon senior biologist and project leader of the Peregrine Falcon monitoring and management program, banded two chicks that were born in mid-April in Manchester. The chicks were banded on Thursday morning, May 10, 2012 at the Brady Sullivan Tower in Manchester. Their nest is on the thirteenth floor of the building and is regularly monitored by Martin.

Chasing Rumors, Finding Closure

When I met Bob Richard's family on March 27th I didn't know that I would be spending so much time with them over the following month. The initial meeting was to interview the family more thoroughly and was to develop the story beyond the police brief we ran in the paper when Bob had gone missing twelve days earlier.

After listening to the family talk about the circumstances of his disappearance and their efforts to try and find him I exchanged numbers with Josh Mullin, Bob's older cousin, before leaving that evening. I told him I wanted to be able to come and photograph when the family was out searching.

Bob's family allowed me to photograph some of their toughest times. I hope that the what I produced can give a little insight into what it feels like to go through this kind of uncertainty and loss.

A new adventure

The Mahoney boys, Oliver, 9, Emanuel, 6, and David, 2, took to the fields, woods, and banks of the Merrimack River while exploring the area around their new home in Canterbury. Their parents, along with the help of friends and family, were working to turn the new location of Brookford Farm into their new home.

Day after the shooting in Greenland

Flags at half mast, flower memorials and marquees spelling out support and thoughts for the police officers and the fallen Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney. Cop cars were easily outnumbered by the influx of news trucks. At 6:15 p.m. the town gathered in front of the Greenland town offices to hold a candle light vigil.

Legislashers Roller Derby at Everett Arena

The Granite State Roller Derby team the Concord Legislashers host the Queen City Cherry Bombs at Everett Arena. The home team lost 114-104.

Easter sunrise service at Dimond HIll Farm

As the sun crept up behind distant mountains, the Bow Mills United Methodist Church was led by Pastor Virginia Fryer in an Easter sunrise service at Dimond Hill Farm. Sunday's service was the seventh year the church met at Jane Presby's farm in Concord.
