Salisbury: Town clerk could get more hours, salary

Monday, March 13, 2017

Hot topic: Aside from several articles requesting appropriations for capital reserve and trust funds, voters will be asked to increase the number of hours, and therefore the salary, for the Salisbury town clerk. Currently, the clerk is in the office for just four hours each Monday and Tuesday. This article would add eight hours a month to the position and increase annual compensation to $21,216. Voters will be asked to appropriate $3,633 to fund this increase for 2017.

Budget: The proposed operating budget is $1.14 million, up 6 percent from $1.07 million from last year.

Noteworthy articles: One warrant article asks voters to appropriate $30,000 for the rescue emergency services equipment capital reserve fund. This comes a year after voters approved a $185,000 bond as part of a $262,000 appropriation for a new fire department tanker.

Contested races: None.

When and where: The town meeting will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the town hall. Ballot voting also will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the town hall.
