Results of Loudon’s master plan survey

The Loudon Planning Board asked residents to weigh in on a range of issues, including the speedway, in a survey intended to provide feedback for an update of the town’s master plan. A total of 380 people responded to the survey, which had 56 questions. Here is a sampling of questions and their responses:

Would you support a Saturday night New Hampshire Motor Speedway race to shorten a race weekend’s impact on the area?

Yes: 58.1 percent

No: 35.5 percent

No opinion: 6.5 percent

Would you support NHMS installing lights to help extend the NASCAR event day in case of rain (to eliminate a delay of the race until Monday)?

Yes: 58.6 percent

No: 34.1 percent

No opinion: 7.3 percent

Should Loudon consider allowing NHMS to build a casino on their property if future state legislation permits it?

Yes: 50.7 percent

No: 46.8 percent

No opinion: 2.5 percent

Are you in favor of Loudon trying to encourage commercial / industrial uses (nonresidential growth) to broaden its tax base?

Yes: 75.6 percent

No: 19.4 percent

No opinion: 5.1 percent

Do you support the continued use of 50% of the Land Use Change tax for conservation purposes?

Yes: 67.5 percent

No: 13.7 percent

No opinion: 18.8 percent

Are you in favor of the Town investigating the potential installation of new sidewalks throughout the Village to improve pedestrian access to the Elementary School and Maxfield Public Library?

Yes: 71.5 percent

No: 19.6 percent
