Bike chic

The leather-clad, tattooed crowds at Motorcycle Week in Laconia are back in force. So what fashion conclusions can we draw from this year's bike-lovers? 1) Wear your patriotism on your sleeve (or head), 2) the more facial hair, the better, and most importantly, 3) skin is always, always in.

Just a quick observation. I was set up at an outdoor selling arena and a couple walked over to my booth and admired one of my items. I quoted a price and they were quite interested and thought that they could really enjoy the item if purchased. In the course of our discourse and their admiration, I was asked how business was. While answering, one of the two said the item was nice but how would they get it home? My answer to their question on how business was was this. It's pretty bad because of the economy, the walmart mentality and the BIKER mentality. The first thing I noticed was the rise to the challenge on the face of my prospective customer, than the realization of the awful truth. They could NOT make the purchase because they had ridden their bike to the arena and had no way of carrying the item home. I could sell the item to the next person who came along, they had to go home empty handed. Seems to me Bike Week is good for the gas sales, the tee shirt sales and the food sales, but little else. The item they admired was a candlestick.
