JV results

The Merrimack Valley JV boys’ basketball team beat Hillsboro-Deering, 53-39. Connor Lane had nine points and 12 rebounds for H-D.

Youth basketball

Bow 1 beat New Boston, 42-32, in boys’ 7th/8th action. Nolan Filteau had nine points to lead Bow. John Caprio, Dylan D’Allesandro, Conor O’Mahony and Nick Vacco contributed on both ends of the floor.

∎ Bow 2 defeated Hillsboro, 32-22, in boys’ 5th/6th action. Cooper Larrabee and Matthew Pingree led Bow with 10 and six points, respectively. Riley King, Nicky Cohen and Spencer Cheney also provided offense. Connor Lee, Nate Hood and Miles Leavis played well on both ends of the floor.

∎ The Hopkinton girls’ 5th/6th A team fell to Antrim, 28-21. Erin Donahue led Hopkinton with eight points. Fiona Bean had four points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Katelyn Meserve and Megan Blanchette also played well.

Youth hockey

The Rowley Agency CYHA Bantams rolled past the Hanover Bantams, 8-1. Goals were scored by Riley Drew (assist), Josh Holden (two assists), Finn Weber, Colby Garcia, Zach Berleth (two goals) and Drew Livingston. Cormick McGonigle (two), Kaden Mason, Liam O’Brien (two) and Ethan Donlon doled out assists.

College standout

Senior Krystin Corliss of Loudon had nine points and three steals, but the Plymouth State University women’s basketball team fell to Eastern Connecticut, 59-38.

Kyara’s All-Star Face-Off, a hockey game benefitting the Kyara Ava Mailhot Scholarship Fund, will be held today at the New England College Lee Clement Arena at 3 p.m. The game will present Boston Bruins Alumni as they take on the New England College men’s and women’s hockey teams at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students/children. Following the game, guests are invited to attend the Player Meet and Greet in the Simon Center Pub located on the NEC campus.

CONCORD FAMILY YMCA volleyball tournament is now open for registration. This one-weekend event will be held March 15 (and possibly the 16th, depending on the number of teams signed up) from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds from the event support the YMCA Sports Programs. The tournament will include women’s, men’s and co-ed teams, open to ages 18 and up, for both YMCA members and non-members. Registration closes Feb. 22. Cost is $50 per team. NE DIAMOND GEMS Jenovese 14U AAU softball team is looking to fill the shortstop position in its 11-player lineup. Fencing lessons for introductory, intermediate and competitive levels in Foil, Epee’ and Sabre are being offered by the Concord Fencing Club for children ages 7-14 and adults 14 years and older. Classes meet Mondays evenings, with children from 5:45-7 and adults from 7:15-8:30. A wheelchair Foil program meets Tuesday evenings at 7. A new eight-week session begins tomorrow. Fly tying classes will be starting Tuesday, hosted by The Basil W. Woods, Jr. Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Beginner (six weeks) and intermediate (five weeks) classes will be 7–9 p.m. at the Passaconaway Club on Garvin’s Falls Rd. in Concord. Materials will be provided as well as vices and tools as needed. CONCORD PARKS & Recreation has the following programs available in the coming weeks: archery lessons (ages 6 and up; for kids and adults) taught by instructor Dana White on Fridays and Saturdays at the new Heights Community Center, starting Friday-Saturday and running for seven weeks through mid-February; Tae Kwon Do (ages five to adult) on Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. at the new Heights Community Center from Saturday-Feb. 15, taught by Daniel Jung, a 7th-degree black belt.
