Fired UNH women’s hockey coach McCloskey wants job back
Coach wants job back
Former University of New Hampshire women’s hockey coach Brian McCloskey is fighting to get his job back after he was fired following an investigation into inappropriate physical contact with a player.
McCloskey told Foster’s Daily Democrat the action taken by the university was so out of proportion the collateral damage has all fallen on the players. He said the players are outraged.
In a statement on Dec. 5, the university did not describe the contact except to say it occurred on the bench during a home loss to Ohio State on Nov. 30.
McCloskey had coached at UNH for more than 20 years. He is claiming defamation, breach of contract and wrongful termination.
UNH President Mark Huddleston said the decision to fire McCloskey was not made lightly.
