Ski jumping – Lebanon’s Nick Alexander (left) just missed out on the 31-athlete medal round of ski jumping, finishing 34th. He tweeted after the event: “Wasn’t enough for the final, but I got my goal for the night: jumped past k and achieved my career best Olympic result, 34th. Next #BigHill”

Nordic skiing – Andover’s Kris Freeman was last among four Americans, finishing in 54th place, 6:19.2 behind the winner. He tweeted: “Not my best performance today but I have another chance on Friday. Time for a little recovery.”

Alpine skiing – After having the fastest time in two of three training runs, Franconia’s Bode Miller finished a disappointing eighth in the downhill.
