For the third time in the past four Olympics, the U.S. saw its hopes of winning the gold medal dashed by Canada:

2002 – Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic score two goals apiece as Canada beats the U.S., 5-2, in the gold medal game. 2010 – Sidney Crosby scores 7:40 into overtime to give Canada a 3-2 victory in the gold medal game. 2014 – Jamie Benn scores the lone goal 1:41 into the second period as Canada wins, 1-0, in the semifinals.
