The New Hampshire Distributors, Inc. Concord Capitals Squirt 2 hockey team defeated Groton, Mass., 3-2, in a shootout in Valley League playoff action. Heath Mann and Zan Alberici scored for Concord. Jake Marcoux had an assist. Ben Bourgault and Brian McDonough scored for Concord in the shootout with Adam Omundson making critical saves. Omundson and Troy Nelson split duty in goal, both playing well.
∎ The Concord Capitals Residential Mortgage Services PeeWee 1 team went 2-0 to advance to the finals in Valley Hockey League action. The Caps beat Chelmsford, Mass., 3-2. Ryan Methven (goal), Ethan Crandlemire (goal, assist), Ronan Walsh (assist), Devin Philbrick (assist) and Logan Otto (assist) provided the offense. The Caps beat Lynn, Mass., 5-0. A furious back check from Anthony Velez, Kyle McKinnon and Carter Gaglia, a steady blue line performance from Anders Norton and Michael McKinnon and a strong performance in goal by Alex Reynolds kept Lynn off the scoreboard. Crandlemire (two), Walsh, Jake Nelson and Gaglia scored.
Kearsarge Hockey is registering for an October 2014 start. There are no tryouts for the league. Prices are: Learn to Skate/Learn to Play $100, Mites $200, Squirts $275, PeeWees $350 and Bantam $350. Winnisquam Babe Ruth will hold signups for the upcoming season Wednesdayfrom 5-7 p.m. at the Pines Community Center in Northfield.
