High school Player of the Season for boys’ hockey
School: Bow High
Honors: Senior forward led the team with 25 goals and 42 points, leading the Falcons to the Division II championship game.
3 favorites: Golf, hockey, family
How would you sum up the season in one word? Successful
What will be the memory that sticks out about this season? Seeing Tim, our coach who is a pretty big guy, shed a couple of tears during our post-game celebration after we beat Dover in the semifinals.
How satisfying was it to finish your career with a long playoff run? To finish my high school hockey career with the longest playoff run in my career was very satisfying, but to know that the last high school hockey game that I will ever play in was a loss in the state championship game is quite disappointing.
What is your best skill on the ice? I think my best skill is being able to see the ice well. I can usually find who is open and hit them with a pass. But I think that my toe-drag is also pretty good.
You’re called on to try a penalty shot with the game riding on it. What is your go-to move? I would probably go Shawn Thornton style and do a backhand toe-drag.
How did you get introduced to hockey? My Dad was the first one to introduce me to hockey.
You were also on the champion golf team. Which sport do you prefer? It is a tough decision between the two, but I would prefer golf over hockey.
Who’s your favorite NHL player? Milan Lucic. I like him because he scores a lot of goals and also throws his body around.
How do you feel about fighting in the NHL? I love fighting in the NHL. It adds an extra factor to the games and makes them even more fun to watch. Yes, some key players might get injured in fights, but nobody is forcing them to do it.
What’s the best advice you have ever received? I think it was at the beginning of this hockey season. Tim and Corey, my coaches, told me to use my speed. They said that I can skate past every single defender in our league as long as I use my feet. I never thought of myself as a fast player, so this advice changed me as a player and improved me dramatically.
If you could be on any game show, which would it be? “The Price is Right.” I would have the most unreal celebration when they call my name to COME ON DOWN!
What’s your favorite pre-game meal? My favorite pre-game meal would have to be spaghetti with some Back Room chicken tenders, a fresh-made Caesar salad, and a full glass of chocolate milk.
Is there a TV show that you never miss? “Big Break,” it’s a show on the golf channel.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing that you would buy? Probably a new set of golf clubs. I’ve wanted to get a new set of clubs for a while now, but I haven’t had the money to buy new irons.
What are your plans for next year? Do they include hockey? As of right now, I am planning on going to Bentley University. I am hoping to play on the varsity golf team. I would also love to play club hockey there. I don’t know if I would be able to play on the varsity hockey squad.
