Monarchs pour it on late to beat Sharks, 5-2

The Manchester Monarchs scored three goals in the final 2½ minutes of the game to beat the Worcester Sharks, 5-2, yesterday.

The teams entered the third period tied 2-2 and Manchester finally pulled ahead with 2:19 to play on a goal by Jordan Weal. The first-place Monarchs (45-19-2-6) added a pair of shorthanded empty-netters in the final minute to drop Worcester to 34-31-4-2.

Brayden McNabb scored twice and assisted on another goal, and Andrew Bodnarchuk and Sean Backman also scored. Patrik Bartosak earned his second AHL victory, stopping 30 of 32 shots.
