Fisher Cats score three in ninth for 6-3 win over Mets
Jon Berti’s sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning broke a 3-3 tie and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tacked on two more on a Brad Glenn single to beat the Binghamton Mets, 6-3, last night.
The Fisher Cats (5-8) took a 3-0 lead into the seventh inning behind the shutout pitching of Aaron Sanchez (six innings, four hits, two walks, six strikeouts), but the Mets (8-5) scored three runs in the bottom of the inning against relievers Wil Browning (zero innings, three runs, two earned), Scott Gracey and Tony Davis.
New Hampshire built its 3-0 lead on solo homers by Gabe Jacobo (his first) in the second inning, Glenn (his first) in the fourth inning and Ryan Schimpf (his fourth) in the sixth inning.
Davis (1.1 innings, three strikeouts) earned the victory.
The teams meet again today at 1:05 p.m.
