Monarchs end regular season with overtime loss
The Manchester Monarchs let a third-period lead slip away in their regular-season finale last night and eventually lost in overtime to the Providence Bruins, 2-1, on the road.
Manchester, however, finishes with 105 points, tops in the Eastern Conference, with a 48-19-3-6 record. The Monarchs begin the playoffs next week.
James Livingston gave Manchester a 1-0 lead 16:24 into the game on a power-play goal assisted by Nic Dowd and Colin Fraser.
The lead held until Providence’s Matt Fraser struck for an unassisted goal 3:12 into the third period. Fraser also provided the winner when he scored on a power play just 2:57 into OT. Ryan Spooner and Seth Griffith assisted.
Manchester goalie J.F. Berube finished with 22 saves.
