Several area athletes had top performances for the Franklin Pierce University men’s track and field team at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday. Junior Antoine Gisore of Concord won the 1,500 with a time of 3:56.99, approximately four seconds off his fastest mark of the indoor season in the event; in addition, the time is just under four seconds off the NCAA Championship provisional qualifying standard. Freshman B.J. Smith of Concord won the 5,000 in 15:03.9, a time good for 10th in the Northeast-10 Conference on the season. Sophomore Colton Ham of Webster took third in the 3,000 steeplechase in a time of 9:43.82, which currently ranks third in the Northeast-10. Sophomore Chris Bohi of Loudon, who was already fourth in the Northeast-10 in the javelin, added a top-five finish in the event as he finished third with a throw of 54.18 meters.
∎ Brooke Simmons of Dunbarton, a freshman on the Franklin Pierce University women’s track and field team, finished fifth in the long jump (4.94 meters) in the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT.
∎ Nicole Scotti of Concord finished her freshman season for the Rivier University softball team on Sunday. She started every game at catcher, hit .351 with a .426 on base percentage, drove in 22 runs, and led the team with 16 walks.
∎ D’Mahl McFadden of Penacook, a sophomore on the University of New hampshire men’s track and field team, recorded a pair of wins at Saturday’s Wolfie Invitational held at Stony Brook. McFadden won the 110 hurdles in 14.52 seconds and tied for first in the 400 hurdles at 55.38.
Granite State Racing Team/Concord’s Running Club is a club of runners of high school age and older of all abilities. The club meets at the northeast corner of the Memorial Field parking lot on South Fruit Street in Concord at 5 p.m. every Tuesday. The team conducts weekly track workouts led by Coach Amber Ferreira. Concord Flyers youth track program will begin its 23rd season May 28 at the Memorial Field track from 5:30-7 p.m. All area 3rd- to 8th-grade girls are eligible. Practices will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:45 p.m. through the end of July, as well as a few practice meets on Sundays (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) during June. Concord Family YMCA and Seacoast United Express are offering specialty sports camps this summer for kids who have completed grades 3-8. UNH women’s volleyball coaching staff will host an overnight camp Aug. 1-3. Participants will have access to Lundholm Gymnasium and all of the amenities of the UNH campus. N.H. Track Coaches Hall of Fame inductee Coach Frank Davis will be honored with an open house Saturday during the MV Invitational. The induction ceremony will take place somewhere between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., depending on when an appropriate intermission occurs with the track events. There will be an awning set up with coffee and other refreshments specifically for those wanting to visit with Frank and share this event. Obstacle course will be at Rollins Park May 3 for kids ages 4-14. The race is modeled after adult courses but obstacles are scaled in size for kids. New Hampshire Golf Association is adding the NHGA Tournament Series, allowing golfers with a current GHIN handicap at an NHGA member club to compete in a more laid-back atmosphere.
