Fisher Cats rally in eighth but fall to Rock Cats, 2-1

Jonathan Jones doubled home the tying run in the top of the eighth inning, but the New Britain Rock Cats plated a run in the bottom of the frame to snap a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Fisher Cats last night.

The Fisher Cats (6-10) tied the game when Mike Crouse doubled and scored on the double by Jones, who went 2-for-3.

Casey Lawrence (1-1) took the loss after pitching 7.2 innings, the longest outing by a New Hampshire starter this season. He allowed seven hits and no walks and struck out seven.

The series continues tonight at 6:35 p.m. The Fisher Cats are scheduled to start RHP Aaron Sanchez (1-1, 2.29) against RHP D.J. Baxendale (0-2, 7.47).
