Berti’s walkoff home run lifts Fisher Cats over Fightin’ Phils, 11-10

Jon Berti homered with two outs in the bottom of the 12th to lift the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to an 11-10 walk-off win over the Reading Fightin’ Phils last night.

The Fisher Cats had tied the game earlier in the bottom of the 10th, as Ryan Schimpf singled with two outs to bring home Jonathan Jones. Reading generated drama of its own to force extras, scoring five runs in the top of the eighth to knot the game at 9.

Wil Browning pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to get the win, striking out three while allowing two hits and a walk. At the plate, Berti went 3-for-5 with a triple in addition to the home run, while Schimpf went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Gabe Jacobo and Brian van Kirk had two RBI apiece.
