Top-seeded Monarchs knocked out of playoffs in first round by Norfolk

The Manchester Monarchs, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, are finished after just four playoff games after losing to the Norfolk Admirals, 3-2, last night in Game 4 of the first-round series.

Maxime Sauve scored the game-winning goal at 10:49 of the third period, snapping a 2-2. The game was tied at 1-1 entering the third period before Chris Wagner scored for Norfolk at 2:12 and Andrew Campbell scored for Manchester at 4:29.

Norfolk led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Nic Kerdiles. Manchester tied it at 1-1 on a power-play goal by Andy Andreoff at 15:56 of the second. Jordan Weal assisted on both Manchester goals, and Linden Vey also had an assist on Campbell’s goal.

Monarchs goalie J.F. Berube made 19 saves.
