Fisher Cats blow lead, fall to Mets, 8-6
The Fisher Cats blew an eighth-inning lead and wasted Andy Fermin’s grand slam as the visiting Binghamton Mets rallied for an 8-6 win last night. The loss extended New Hampshire’s skid to five games.
Fermin’s blast capped a six-run third inning in which the Fisher Cats erased a 4-0 deficit with six unearned runs. Kenny Wilson (2-for-5) had an RBI triple and then scored on a wild pitch to account for the first two runs of the inning.
But the Mets came back against New Hampshire relievers Richard Bleier (1.1 innings, two hits, one walk, one run) and Dustin Antolin (one-third, five hits, three runs) in a four-run eighth.
The teams meet again today at 5:35 p.m. Matt Boyd pitches for the Fisher Cats against Rainy Lara.
