MONTREAL – Andres Romero and Jack McInerney scored in the Montreal Impact’s 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution last night.

Romero scored in the third minute, and McInerney in the 38th.

Montreal (2-6-4) ended New England’s winning streak at five and its unbeaten run at seven, dropping the Revolution to 7-4-2.

Romero took a long through ball from striker Marco Di Vaio and moved in all alone on goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth. With Revolution defenders requesting an offside call on the play, Romero held onto the ball several seconds before beating Shuttleworth between the legs for his career-high third goal.

Later, Nakajima-Farran cut into the middle and fired a powerful strike at Shuttleworth. The keeper bobbled the ball before striker McInerney pounced on the rebound from just outside the 6-yard box.
