Anglers in New Hampshire can fish free Saturday
New Hampshire fishing enthusiasts can start making their weekend plans if they want to fish for free.
Free Fishing Day in New Hampshire is Saturday. Residents and nonresidents may fish for free in both saltwater and freshwater bodies of water.
Fishing regulations – such as bag limits – still apply, but anglers don’t need a permit to fish in the state that day.
Fish and Game officials said there is one exception: Special permits will still be required to fish for brood stock Atlantic salmon in the Merrimack and lower Pemigewasset rivers.
Free Fishing Day will coincide with Hatchery Open House Day. Fish and Game officials invite the public to tour one of the state’s six trout hatcheries Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
