Schimpf homers in ninth to lift Fisher Cats to 7-5 win

Ryan Schimpf drilled a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats held on for a 7-5 victory over the Baysox last night in Bowie.

With the score tied at 5, Jon Berti walked and Schimpf (1-for-4, three RBI) hit the first pitch to straight-away center for his 12th home run.

Randy Boone retired Bowie in order in the bottom of the ninth for his sixth save. Arik Sikula, who pitched a scoreless eighth inning, earned his first win (1-0).

Berti finished 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, a homer and three RBI. Mike McDade also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double.
