Curve scores twice in ninth to beat Fisher Cats, 4-2
Mike McDade hit an RBI double to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Altoona Curve scored twice on sacrifice flies in the top of the ninth to take the opener of a three game series in New Hampshire, 4-2, last night.
Elias Diaz and Jarek Cunningham drove in runs in the ninth for the Curve (26-41) with fly balls off reliever Randy Boone (0-3). Boone allowed an earned run in an outing for the first time in more than a month.
Starting pitcher P.J. Walters worked eight innings for the Fisher Cats, allowing two runs on six hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.
K.C. Hobson, playing in his first game for the Fisher Cats after being promoted yesterday from Advanced-A Dunedin, homered in his third at-bat to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the seventh.
