Bruins to open at home against Philadelphia

The Boston Bruins will open their season at home against the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 8 (a Wednesday), and travel to Detroit twice in the first week of the season.

The NHL released the season schedule yesterday.

After opening with Philadelphia, the Bruins will head to Detroit on Oct. 9, return home to play the Capitals on Oct. 11 and the Avalanche on Oct. 13, then head back to Detroit on Oct. 15 and to Montreal on Oct. 16 in a whirlwind start to the season that sees Boston play six games in nine days.
