Fisher Cats shut out by Rock Cats’ Vasquez

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats managed just five hits against New Britain’s Virgil Vasquez, who pitched a complete-game shutout as the Rock Cats won, 4-0, yesterday to take two of three in the series.

Mike McDade and Andy Burns delivered doubles to lead the Fisher Cats’ offense. Dalton Pompey, Derrick Chung and Kevin Nolan had singles.

Matt Boyd took the loss for New Hampshire, allowing eight hits and four runs in five innings. Blake McFarland (three innings) and Scott Gracey (one inning) combined for four innings of hitless, shutout relief.

The Fisher Cats open a five-game series in Portland tonight at 7. Scott Copeland (5-6, 4.28) starts for New Hampshire against Jeremy Kehrt (0-0, 2.45).
