Duston Country Club held its two-day guest tournament this weekend. For the men, Mike Zack and Austin Fox placed first with a net score of 78 and were followed by Tom Flanagan and Al Appel (78), John Holbrook and Matt Holbrook (79), Jon Routon and Bill Gould (81) and Jeff Chandler and Colin Abbott (81). Jim Schoch and Geoff Martin won the gross with a 94, and were followed by Jeff Hicks and Kevin Rand (96). Chandler won the longest drive, Flanagan was closest to the pin and Martin was the Grand March champion. Catherine Belcher and Cindy Sostac won the women’s net with an 81, while Lee Anne Bruzga and Suzanne Deroche took the gross with a 109. Sue Calley won the longest drive, while Marge Bell won closest to the pin.
Field hockey signups
Any girls living in the Merrimack Valley School District in grades 3-6 interested in playing field hockey in the fall can now register at the Penacook Community Center. Practices and games will be held on Wednesdays from 6-7:15 p.m. and Sundays from 3-4:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 27 and ending Oct. 19. Practices will be held on the field hockey field behind the Merrimack Valley Middle School. Girls participating will need shin guards, a mouth guard, and a stick (some sticks will be available to use if one is needed). The cost is $35. Call Kim at 796-2773 with any questions.

Youngsville Granite Heat baseball team is looking for players to try out for the U13 and U14 AAU teams. Tryouts will be today from 5:30-7:15 p.m. and Aug. 11-12 at the Youngsville Baseball complex. Youngsville flag football will be holding signups for the upcoming season at the Youngsville baseball and flag football park, 1 Londonderry Turnpike in Manchester, today and Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. There are four divisions: boys and girls ages 7-8, boys and girls 9-10, boys 11-12 and girls 11-12 (age as of May 1, 2014). NH Lightning softball team will be hosting tryouts for the 2015 season at Donati Field in Hooksett. All divisions (10-U through 18-U) will be held tomorrow and Thursday at 6 p.m., while there will be additional tryouts Aug. 9 for 10-U (10 a.m.), 12-U (noon), 14-U (2 p.m.) and 16-U (4 p.m.).
