Fisher Cats sweep Fightin Phils
Scott Copeland went the distance in the opener and the bats pounded out nine runs on a dozen hits in the nightcap, giving the New Hampshire Fisher Cats a sweep by scores of 5-2 and 9-2 in yesterday’s doubleheader with the Reading Fightin Phils.
Copeland (7-7) pitched his first complete game of the season by going the full seven innings. He allowed just a pair of runs while striking out a career-high nine.
K.C. Hobson put Copeland and the Fisher Cats ahead with a long home run to right field in the bottom of the second. A four-run fourth made it 5-0 before Reading scored two in the sixth.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx (4-2) was the winner in Game 2, pitching six innings and allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Andy Burns went 3-for-4 in the nightcap and 4-for-7 in the two games.
